Discover The Riverbanks Zoo, Columbia South Carolina
If you’ll be visiting South Carolina soon, plan to spend a day at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. This exciting destination features fabulous attractions. You can see more than 2,000 species of animals from around the world at the Zoo.
At Riverbanks Zoo, you’ll see animals from around the world in recreations of a huge range of habitats. At the African Plains exhibit, zebras, giraffes and other animals native to Africa roam their own savanna area. If you’re interested in African gorillas and elephants, you can see these magnificent creatures at the Ndoki Forest sanctuary area. Vultures, cranes and other birds native to Africa are located in the nearby African Bird Yard.
African lions can be seen at the Zoo’s Large Mammals exhibit. Siberian tigers, hippopotamuses, baboons and grizzly bears are some of the other giant creatures you will see in the Large Mammals area.
There are plenty of aquatic creatures, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates to view at the Riverbanks Zoo’s Aquarium Reptile Complex. At the Birdhouse, there are three different bird habitat exhibits. Penguins and beautiful birds of paradise are just a few of the birds at home in these themed displays.
Australian fish, mammals and reptiles are located at the Koala Knockabout exhibit, and you will enjoy meeting the friendly lorikeets at the Zoo’s aviary. At the Riverbanks Conservation Outpost, visitors have an opportunity to view uncommon small animals.
